West Offaly Training has taken an initiative to involve the over 65's with computer training. Every Friday afternoon between 2pm and 4:30pm we are running a 'drop in centre' for the over 65's where a computer can be used free of charge. A trainer will be on hand if there is any help required.
We have also started 2 FETAC Certified Computer Literacy classes for the over 65's, this allows OAP's to get certified while they learn and have some fun.
We are also running courses in Internet and Email, as well as Introduction to Computers and using a digital camera. This course list will be expanding as we move further into 2010 to meet the needs of the elderly in Offaly and neighbouring counties.
The Internet and Email class usually runs over 4 to 5 weeks and covers Basic Computers such as: - Using the mouse and keyboard
The Introduction to Computers runs over 8 weeks and cover more general computing; a full description can be seen by clicking here.
